Pediatric pads are used for resuscitation of children under 8 years old or weighing less than 25 kg. The pads last approximately two years. When the pad cartridge is inserted into the AED, the Joule output is automatically reduced. Pad placement is indicated both on the cartridge and on the pads themselves.
